Project Overview

  • Client: Envirotech Ltd
  • Location: Coventry University
  • Duration: 7 months

D & T Mechanical was contracted to de-commission, remove, supply and install a new energy centre and plantroom.  Key works included:

  • Pipework serving: boilers, CHP, chillers, blast air coolers, buffer vessels, plate heat exchangers, pumps, filtration units and expansion vessels.
  • Installation of advanced control systems (differential pressure valves, PICVs, double regulating control valves).
  • Heating, chilled and gas systems (welded/threaded).
  • Hot, cold and boosted water services (brazed/soldered).

Above-ground and condensate drainage systems.

The Challenge

This was a live environment project in an operational university. The works required careful phasing and temporary systems to ensure minimal disruption while delivering a complex, traditional-design build.

D & T Mechanical's Role

Envirotech selected D & T Mechanical for their trusted, transparent approach and their ability to offer turnkey pipework solutions.

Key strengths D & T delivered:

  • Problem-solving collaboration: working closely with Envirotech to adapt designs and resolve challenges.
  • Offsite fabrication: providing pre-fabricated pipework to accelerate delivery and reduce onsite risks.
  • Trust and transparency: operating as an open, reliable partner throughout the project.

The Results

The project was delivered within tight timescales, while keeping the university’s heating and hot water live throughout. D & T Mechanical’s complete pipework package added significant value, reinforcing their position as a dependable mechanical subcontractor.
